FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How many photos will I receive?
I don’t put an exact figure on it but most clients usually receive between 400-500 images on the USB depending how long I am with them on them on the day.

How would you describe your style?
90% of the time I shoot relaxed and natural reportage or as its sometimes called ‘documentary style’ images of your day and the other 10% is trying to create the WOW! images of the two of you so I may offer a little direction but its still very relaxed and informal.

Will we receive any black and white photos?
Yes – all photos are taken in colour but any that I think would work in black and white are converted in photoshop. You will receive both the black and white and colour version on your USB.

Are you happy to travel?
Yes – I’m based in Berkshire but happy to travel all over the UK to photograph weddings.  If its more than 50 miles from Reading I ask for a small contribution towards the travel costs and if absolutely necessary then a low budget hotel to stay in the night before the wedding to ensure I’m there without any issues on the morning of the wedding.

How much time do we need on the day for photos?
I usually request 15-20 minutes with the two of you for a photo shoot at some point between the Wedding Ceremony and the Wedding Breakfast but we can do this at a convenient time so you are not away from your guests for long.

How long will it be before I receive the images?
I guarantee to get the images online for you to view within 2 week of the Wedding and the USB will be in the post within a couple of days of that.

How many weddings have you photographed?
I have now photographed over 130 weddings plus many others where I’ve helped other photographers working as a 2nd shooter so you can rest assured you are in experienced hands.    I started my business in January 2010 so this is my 7th year shooting weddings professionally but I also worked with another photographer in 2009 to learn the ropes before starting out on my own.

Do you have insurance?
Yes I have full insurance required for a Professional Photography business including both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Cover.

How many photographers will be there on the day?
It will be just me; Greg.  I usually work alone and have done so for nearly all the weddings I’ve shot over the last 7 years.  I can still cover two locations for you both getting ready on the morning of the wedding so nothing is missed.

Can you supply a 2nd photographer if we want one?
If you are planning a particularly big wedding and feel it would be necessary to have a 2nd photographer I have a good network of professional photographer friends that I can call upon for an additional cost.

Do you need to visit our venue before the wedding?
I’ve worked at many of the top venues in the Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey area over the last 7 years but if I have not been to your venue before then that is not a problem.  I would always ensure I have enough time on the day of the wedding to scout all the best locations for photos and I always speak to the wedding co-ordinator to hear their ideas.  In fact I really enjoy working at new venues so I’m always excited to photograph somewhere new.

Do you carry backup equipment?
Of course – I always bring spares of every piece of equipment I use just in case anything is damaged or malfunctions so I can continue shooting as if nothing has happened.  This includes 4 cameras, 5 lenses, 3 flashes plus a number of other professional photo tools to ensure I can get the best shots regardless of the lighting or weather conditions.

Can we meet up to discuss your packages and see more of your work?
I always like to me up or perhaps have a Skype call before taking a booking for a no obligation consultation to find out more about your plans and see if the services I offer meet your requirements.  I’m happy to come to you (if you are in the Thames Valley area) and can bring sample albums, a portfolio of images from many different weddings, example slideshows and signing frames to see if you like the way I shoot weddings.

Do you do group shots of family and friends?
I’m happy to do as many or a little formal group photos as you like and would usually recommend a maximum of 10 but its up to you.   I’m concious your wedding day is about you having fun with your guests and not just standing in line to have your photo taken so try to keep this to 10-15 minutes.

What is a signing frame you include in the packages?
A signing frame is a 20×16 inch white photo-mount with a 12×8 inch photo in it which leaves enough room for all your guests to leave you a little message as a memento of your day.  I bring all the equipment so I can print one of your photos from the wedding taken that afternoon by the time you have finished your meal and mount it in to the signing frame to pass round your guests whilst having teas and coffees.

Can I order an album after the Wedding?
Yes of course. The only different in cost between the packages is the cost of the albums so you can request an album any time – even years down the line.

What are Parent Albums?
Parent Albums are a half sized replica of your main album. They cost £120 for two and can only be ordered in pairs and have to have the same design of images as the main album.

Can I design my own album?
Yes – I will put an initial draft together and you can make any changes you require to the images used or layouts so it looks exactly as you want it to.

How long will it be before we receive our album?
I will send you the initial design for the album within 4 weeks of the wedding and it is up to you to decide if you want any changes. From the point where you are happy with the design it will take 10 days to arrive.

So how do we book?
If you want to make a booking you will need to complete a booking form and pay a deposit of £150 to confirm your date.  Once this is received I will confirm your booking in writing and outline all the things that are included in your package.  The rest of the balance will be due 2 weeks before your wedding.

What happens then?
I will contact you to meet up again roughly 2 weeks before your wedding to discuss your plans and ideas for the day, the timings and any formal / group photos you would like me to take.

I’ve tried to cover many of the questions that come up regularly from my clients but if you have any further queries or to book a no-obligation meeting to discuss your requirements please do not hesitate to get in touch on [email protected], 07813 194 303 or using the contact form.
